1. Multitasking
Open the Settings app, click on the “General” tab in the left column, scroll down and turn on “Multitasking Gestures” from “Off” to “On”.
This allows you to use more than one finger to control the iPad. For example, when you are in any app, you can tap 4 or 5 fingers on the screen to return to the iPad’s home screen. A 4 or 5 finger swipe up will show the multitasking bar, showing the applications that are running. Swipe down again to hide the multitasking bar.
2. Zoom
Go to Settings> General> Accessibility and swipe the bar in “Zoom” from “Off” to “On” to turn it on.
Once activated, you can use three fingers to double-tap on the screen to zoom in on a point. To move while zooming in, drag three fingers around the screen.
3. Shake to cancel order
Did you make a mistake when editing on iPad and want to cancel the action just made? Take your iPad, hold it firmly and shake it. A “pop-up” message will appear allowing you to undo the content you just entered.
4. Press the Home button 3 times
While most people know that double-clicking on the Home button will bring up the multitasking bar and allow you to access open applications, few people know about clicking the Home button three times.
Go to Settings> General> Accessibility and swipe the bar at “Triple-click Home” from “Off” to “On”. Then, you can choose to activate some features when you hit 3 consecutive times on the iPad Home button, including the ability to invert the screen or zoom.
VoiceOver – iPad features help visually impaired people navigate the screen – can also be activated in this way.
5. Break the keyboard
This feature is really useful when you hold the iPad on both hands and edit with two thumbs. Hold down the keyboard button in the lower right corner that you normally use to press the keyboard. Then select “split” from the menu that appears.
You can access the hidden keys of the split keyboard. For example, you can click the space near the left of the “Y” key to type “T”, click on the space to the left of H to type “G” and to the right of V to type ” B “…
6. Press the space twice for successive sentences to mark the sentence
You can press space twice to insert punctuation marks into the text. This not only helps you mark sentences, but also automatically adds spaces after the punctuation mark so you can quickly write the next sentence. This operation is extremely handy when you are editing a long text.
7. The hidden characters on the keyboard
Do you wonder about typing the letters “um”, “umbrella” or some strange symbols? You just hold down a letter on the keyboard and the special characters associated with that key will appear.
